Re: Sad news about Carolyn

I support Sina’s suggestion.

ARIA Authoring Practice Guide(APG) working group briefly discussed this topic<https://www.w3.org/2022/02/22-aria-apg-minutes.html#t01> to honor her dedication to ARIA APG. As you may be aware of, Carolyn contributed greatly to APG 1.2 as the accessibility reviewer and tester of APG examples.

It would be great if we can propose ways to remember her as our beloved colleague and friend.

Echoing the sadness and sense of loss.

I’m feeling gratitude for having to gotten to work with her via this group but also communicate offline with her this past year.

Question, if I may, is there anything we can do via the WG to honor her incredible commitments? Is there a dedication section in the standard (can/should there be?), a W3C scholarship dedicated to accessibility/disability, anything else?

Unsung hero doesn’t come close, but it’s all I got right now.

Hugs,
Sina

I’m really sorry to read this.

What a loss for the ARIA community! Carolyn will be greatly missed, but I hope her friends and family take comfort the fact that her efforts toward universal access will benefit generations to come.

It is with the greatest sadness that I need to let you know that Carolyn MacLeod passed away last Thursday of metastatic breast cancer. I think I speak for the whole group in saying that this is a huge loss for the accessibility community as Carolyn did so much and always with so much positivity. I know I'm going to miss her so much.
