Dear Advisory Committee Representative,
Chairs,

The Accessible Rich Internet Applications (ARIA) Working Group [1]
charter [2] has been extended until 31 October 2018.

The mission of the Accessible Rich Internet Applications Working Group
is to enhance the accessibility of web content through the development
of supplemental attributes, including roles, states, and other
properties, that can be applied to native host language elements and
exposed via platform accessibility APIs.

The ARIA WG charter was scheduled to expire 31 July 2018. An updated
charter was presented to the Advisory Committee in June 2018 [3]. Two
Formal Objections were recorded, which need more time to address. While
resolution of the AC feedback continues, this extension is to allow the
Working Group to publish WAI-ARIA Graphics Module and Graphics
Accessibility API Mappings as W3C Recommendations, Accessible Name and
Description Computation as a Proposed Recommendation, and updated
Working Drafts of Accessible Rich Internet Applications 1.2, Core
Accessibility API Mappings 1.2, and WAI-ARIA Authoring Practices 1.2.

Information on how to participate in this group is available [4]. The
group is currently chaired by Joanmarie Diggs (Igalia) and James Nurthen
(Adobe).

If you should have any questions or need further information, please
contact Michael Cooper <cooper@w3.org>, Working Group Staff Contact.

This announcement follows section 5.1 and section 5.2.5 of the W3C
Process Document:
