Hi, I'm opening up this discussion here because there appears to be descent as to what this behavior is meant to be, and we as implementers all need to be on the same page. The relevant thread is below. I'm not sure what ever happened to the spec text regarding this, but as I recall the result of our mapping meeting was that form elements would be treated in the same manner as named regions so that when a form element had an explicit label, it would be mapped as a form landmark. The relevant meeting minutes are also below. It would be good to have others chime in about their understanding of this because now I am uncertain anybody was on the same page about it. I'm confused, because you didn't raise any concerns about this during the discussion when it was proposed last year, and you did participate in the thread. Reference: http://webaim.org/discussion/mail_thread?thread=7419 This was discussed in the meeting minutes at http://www.w3.org/2016/04/26-aapi-minutes.html#item05 I'm CCing the ARIA WG mail list here too because there appears to be some confusion about this that we need to discuss there.
