I don't see a subtree using Safari 9.0.3 and the Accessibility Inspector 
with the example page from my previous emails [1].  What I see for the 
<img> element is an AXGroup with a zero-length AXChildren property, and 
an AXDescription "Nice coconut tree".  Note that the <img> element has 
alt="Nice coconut tree".

Where (or how) are you finding a subtree?
