I agree it's not completely disjoint.  I think it is orthogonal, in 
that:
  * Both audience and access control via membership in a group are 
possible at the same time. They could both be present, either could be
 present or neither. They could have the same value or different 
values, with different behaviors from each.
  * Access Control is a protocol issue in that it is who is allowed to
 access (or manage) the resource, audience is a model issue in that it
 describes who might find the resource interesting or useful

Can you add the dc:audience equivalency to #8 please?
