I +1 what Nick says, and also that identifiers are proxies There is the annotation and there is the linked data [and then the social web]. To bring the two together, we will need to be able to use annotation to make the data in the links explicit so that Paolo will have all the necessary information in the annotation (and meta-annotations, if we want to see annotations as user defined and meta as generated for linking needs depending on whether its a biomed-community doc or such) to derive the linked information for cross-format and version control (if edit log is considered as edit-annotation) needs eg., Identifier-types other-representations & location -d
