Dear Paola, To be absolutely and abundantly clear about the process of appointing chairs, our decision-making processes in our AIKR CG, and what rules apply I would like to remind you of the rules by which every member of any business or community group of the W3C must abide: https://www.w3.org/community/about/ https://www.w3.org/community/about/good-practice-for-running-a-group/ https://w3c.github.io/cg-charter/CGCharter.html Being part of a community group comes with rules, restraints and constraints, and whether you are affiliated as an individual or through a legal entity as representative thereof. I want be absolutely and abundantly clear about what is or can be expected from a co-chair. Measurable commitments are inevitably subject to codes of conduct and governance, some form of basic regularly scheduled processes for decision-making and reaching consensus as well as other issues related to fixed objective and timeline bound collaboration between individuals and organizations. Collaboration between individuals is based on a mutually reached agreement with some rules of engagement and is often on a voluntary basis. I recommend we reach a clear consensus on the role and duties of a co-chair and keep in mind that a community group by default is a group of individuals who share some common interests, objectives and the disposition to collaborate to achieve a certain set of objectives. Collaboration, whether in an open science, citizen science, civil society community formal organization or group setting , a scientific community group like our W3 AIKR CG or any of the myriad of forms of federated networks existing through the Internet is difficult, if membership is not bound by obligations stipulated in a charter and bound by a code of conduct or rules of governance. I am not sure where you are going with the mission statement and measurable commitments including those aimed at engaging more members in the CG.I will provide my mission statement as you suggested but also include my thoughts on some basic governance and decision-making processes and how to achieve some measurable results in line what can be expected form each member and in accordance with the rules of the W3C. cheers Milton Ponson GSM: +297 747 8280 PO Box 1154, Oranjestad Aruba, Dutch Caribbean Project Paradigm: Bringing the ICT tools for sustainable development to all stakeholders worldwide through collaborative research on applied mathematics, advanced modeling, software and standards development On Saturday, December 21, 2019, 12:23:54 AM AST, Paola Di Maio <paola.dimaio@gmail.com> wrote: Milton, Carl and anyone else who may be interested possibly in the future- I think I have already circulated this request but here it is again: Please enter your statement (of what you propose to do as co-chair) in the wiki,https://www.w3.org/community/aikr/wiki/Main_Page#CO_CHAIRS_STATEMENTS and kindly ensure that your statement is in line what needs to be done, possibly in some measurable way in terms of actions or deliverebles(say the co-chair commites to engage more members in such and such activity, or write one page, represent the group in one meeting, give one talk, engage with one community etc) What needs to be done is more or less outlined in the same page but of course you are welcome to edit that list and add your own points This is to ensure that the contribution of the cochair to the planned work is to some extent agreed and explicitly stated as a form of agreement with the current proposed action, and as a commitment to the groupIdeally the co chair mission would build on and expand what is currentl being done by the Chair If someone has done work in relation to this CG goal and mission, please share what you are working on via the list and enter it in the wiki, possibly requesting input and collaboration from other community members? Thanks
