RE: An invitation from the W3C WAI-Adapt Task Force

Hi James, Anne,

Thanks for your continued interest and input into this work. We hope you will both be able to attend remotely at 15:00 UTC / 16:00 BST / 17:00 CET on Tuesday the 6th of May. There’s a W3C calendar entry for the workshop as a whole, but I’ll make one specifically for this call, so you have only the relevant info.

The focus of the workshop is to go over the key use cases and requirements for implementation, and fill in a matrix that will highlight where the remaining barriers are. We have been investigating the Unicode approach since TPAC and have made a lot of progress, largely thanks to Russell’s proof-of-concept work.

There are some challenges we know about, and some that may be raised during the workshop – we’ll focus on those with you, and we’ll send you both the matrix during the workshop, but ahead of the call, so you can get an overview of what we’ll be focusing on.

I’ll send that W3C calendar invite for the timeslot above shortly. If you are not able to attend then, please let us know. We’d love to be able to have you both join in the same slot.

Thanks, and best regards,

Matthew

My thoughts on this subject: I’d love for it to work. There’s a clear roadmap. If you’re serious about it, make it happen.

More detail on the roadmap, and some tough love, since it seems like we’ve had the same conversation 6 years in a row now.

Once the topic time slot is scheduled, I will see if I can attend remotely.

Dear James:

We're writing to invite you, and/or other Apple staff, either in person
or virtually via Zoom, to a W3C Face to Face meeting concerning AAC
symbols standardization. Our Accessible Platform Architectures (A)A
Working Group Task force, WAI-Adapt, will be meeting at the Samsung
facility near London's Heathrow Airport on Monday and Tuesday, May 5 and
6. We've made great progress regarding supporting AAC in web content,
but questions remain, and your expertise is highly relevant. So, we hope
you will be able to join us--virtually or in person--for at least some
of the time.

All relevant details for this meeting, including realtime agenda updates
as well as pointers to local lodging, are provided on this wiki page:

[WAI-Adapt Face to Face, May 5 & 6](https://github.com/w3c/adapt/wiki/2025%E2%80%9005-Face-to-face-meeting <https://protect2.fireeye.com/v1/url?k=6f853c7f-0efe96f6-6f84b730-74fe48600034-ee7480f46e3cb7e2&q=1&e=a09ef2cb-33c9-4e32-9ca1-f06c7f4f4b63&u=https%3A%2F%2Fgithub.com%2Fw3c%2Fadapt%2Fwiki%2F2025%25E2%2580%259005-Face-to-face-meeting> )

* Monday will focus primarily on refining and advancing a registry
* specification in support of content authoring with AAC.

* Tuesday will focus on ascertaining that we have appropriately
* accounted for all user scenarios.

cornerstone of our deliberations over the past year (and more). So, we
would love to check-in. FYI, we are also inviting Anne van Kesteren
given his role in WHAT-WG and his central participation in conversations
concerning AAC in web content.

Thanking you in advance,

Janina & Matthew APA Co-Chairs
On behalf of WAI-Adapt
