Hi Adapt, I'm proposing to propose the following session for Breakouts Day, as we discussed. I am happy to work on the slides, and keen to present - I think if we want to bring on co-presenters (should the timing of the session work out) then we can. We should also select a scribe in advance. And of course, whilst I'll provide a set of slides, and demo, we'll need all of your input to ensure the session reflects the consensus of the group, and has the best chance for success. In that spirit - feedback on the proposal is welcome; I hope it captures what we have discussed in recent weeks. It's important for me to ensure that the audience understands that this is a WAI-Adapt proposal, and not something that comes from/has the backing of the TAG, so I ran it past the TAG co-chairs, just to ensure nobody is surprised when the session turns up. I expect to hear back, and be able to make the proposal, by the end of the week (before I drop offline for a week). I'll confirm with Lionel and Janina when it's posted. Here it is... --- Title: Exploring making site navigation more accessible, with "well-known destinations" Description: Navigation around sites can be complex, presenting barriers for people who struggle to understand the visual layout, or terminology that a site uses. However, there are several key sections or pages that can be found across many sites. The WAI-Adapt Task Force is exploring an approach (pending review) to address these barriers. This session introduces the problem, shows how we envisage the solution working, from the user's perspective - via a demo of an interactive browser extension - and describes our proposed approach, in order to answer your questions, and gather informal feedback before we apply for horizontal and wide review from the community. Goal: Raise awareness of the challenges of site navigation, and a potential simple, semantic, standardised solution Type: Breakout (50-minutes) Additional session chairs (optional): Lionel? [I think we could add some, as required, after the session is scheduled; we've done so for previous TPAC breakout sessions.] IRC channel: adapt Conflicting sessions: [ The one that I am going to propose about the tool I've been working on to help us track horizontal review issues, actions, and suchlike. ] Instructions for meeting planners, inc time constraints: Meeting must start between 0700 and 2100 UTC. Agenda * Site navigation barriers * What support could look like in the browser (demo) * WAI-Adapt's proposed solution * Next steps (i.e. seeking review) * Discussion --- Matthew Atkinson Head of Web Standards Samsung R&D Institute UK Samsung Electronics +44 7733 238 020 Samsung R&D Institute (SRUK), Communications House, South Street, Staines-upon-Thames, Surrey, TW18 4QE.
