Meeting minutes

   <Lionel_Wolberger> Hi all

   <Lionel_Wolberger> I'll join audio in 2 min

   presetn+

  Holiday schedule

janina: Suggest we meet next week.

janina: We're off on the 26th and on the 2nd. We can meet on
the 9th. The 16th is Martin Luther King day in the US, so
   wouldn't be meeting then.

janina: I'd like to schedule a joint meeting with the Web for
Children CG. 23rd of January or later. That may help us decide
which attributes to next move to CR. They have some proposals.

janina: We may be able to get Microsoft's support.

Lionel_Wolberger: Who can set up the CG meeting?

   janina: I can.

  Recruiting

I lost audio... is it a storm on my end?

janina: Suggest we think of which communities we'd like to
recruit from, and work on this after MLK day. We need to think
about communities we want to serve, and help needed with
   implementations.

CR status: Did the CfC conclude, and the draft transitioned to CR?
  Etc.

janina: There were no objections in APA to relying on our
existing CfC being used for the Symbols Module.
… So we should be able to make the request for the Symbols
   Module.

   Roy: Yes.

janina: The AAC Registry FPWD was approved and Roy has asked
for publication. We're finishing the messaging. FPWD of
   registry should be published tomorrow.

Roy: After the APA meeting last week, I created this transition
   request.
… Management is pinging the TAG, awaiting their resposne. Hope
   we can publish before Christmas.

janina: What if there is silence from the TAG?

Roy: Expect we should be able to publish as long as there are
   no objections.

janina: So we should have some update by Monday on this.
… Next week is the last week to publish anything this year.

Roy: The last date is the 23rd.
… We aim for the 22nd.

janina: Is Shawn aware of the messaging we have for CR?

Roy: I think there was a PR for Adapt (as well as the registry
FPWD) last week. Will double confirm.

janina: Any progress on the explainer matatk?

matatk: No, will do that ASAP.

  Symbol Module Implementations Status (CR)

janina: As soon as CR is done, we are going to need to focus on
   this primarily.
… We need two independent implementations, on the UA side and
   on the content side.
… It'd be good if it was something that people who use symbols
would like to use. The ADA form would be a powerful example.
… The AC votes when we want to move from Candidate
Recomendation (CR) to Proposed Recommendation (PR). As I
mentioned to Shawn, that's press release time. This is
significant work for the W3C, the industry, and general news.

matatk: Some suggestions: games, educational games, we also
need to talk with Bliss about the prototype editor.

janina: Suggests AI may be useful there to fuzzy match words to
concepts (matatk agrees, the current approach is naive; need to
speak with Bliss about what level of expertise is requried for
   markup).

   Lionel_Wolberger: Advocacy organizations too. Specifically
those with users who have their own separate symbol sets.

   Lionel_Wolberger: Organizations with kiosks/tablets?

becky: Isn't the (AAC) tablet created specifically to the
   person?

Lionel_Wolberger: Yes, but was wondering about a general web
   tablet in this case.

janina: A good starting point would be to look at the web pages
of teh NGOs and advocacy organizations, to see if there is
procedural stuff (e.g. forms) that could be marked up.

Lionel_Wolberger: The next items (which we will get to next
time) continue our series on due dilligence; please have a look
at these and form your opinions.

Lionel_Wolberger: Thank you janina, Roy, matatk for working on
   CR stuff behind the scenes.

becky: Adding to the thought about devices: a user's device
would be tailored and very specific to them. In a shared
setting though, where there may not be budget sufficient for
tailoring, we should do what we can to make the adaptations.
