It cannot right now - but there is no reason that a multi-part mime could not contain both attribute and content information. We would simply have to define the syntax and semantics of this multi part mime request. -----Original Message----- From: Julian Reschke [mailto:julian.reschke@greenbytes.de] Sent: Friday, October 19, 2001 9:31 AM To: Dylan Barrell; Stefan Eissing; Jim Amsden; ietf-dav-versioning@w3.org Subject: RE: Submission: deltav subset However, creating a resource and setting properties can not be done in a single operation, right? -----Original Message----- From: ietf-dav-versioning-request@w3.org [mailto:ietf-dav-versioning-request@w3.org]On Behalf Of Dylan Barrell Sent: Friday, October 19, 2001 3:26 PM To: Stefan Eissing; Julian Reschke; Jim Amsden; ietf-dav-versioning@w3.org Subject: RE: Submission: deltav subset No, what I have in mind is the ability for a server to define attribute sets (categories) that are associated with collections some of these attributes and/or categories are mandatory (i.e. must be given a non empty valid value) when creating new resources in the collection, the client MUST supply values for these mandatory attributes otherwise the resource cannot be created. This is used widely in document management and record management systems. However it is a complex topic and does tie into RDF. --Dylan -----Original Message----- From: Stefan Eissing [mailto:stefan.eissing@greenbytes.de] Sent: Friday, October 19, 2001 3:51 AM To: Julian Reschke; Dylan Barrell; Jim Amsden; ietf-dav-versioning@w3.org Subject: RE: Submission: deltav subset Not to mention all the wonderful live properties (DAV:supported-xxx) which really should be part of a WebDAV core spec. Maybe that's what Dylan has in mind? -----Original Message----- From: ietf-dav-versioning-request@w3.org [mailto:ietf-dav-versioning-request@w3.org]On Behalf Of Julian Reschke Sent: Friday, October 19, 2001 9:31 AM To: Dylan Barrell; Jim Amsden; ietf-dav-versioning@w3.org Subject: RE: Submission: deltav subset I think now that work on deltaV and ACL nears completion, we *badly* need to go back resolving issues on the WebDAV core (maybe including parts of bindings, redirect refs, ordered collections and SEARCH). -----Original Message----- From: ietf-dav-versioning-request@w3.org [mailto:ietf-dav-versioning-request@w3.org]On Behalf Of Dylan Barrell Sent: Friday, October 19, 2001 3:05 AM To: Jim Amsden; ietf-dav-versioning@w3.org Subject: RE: Submission: deltav subset I would like to see some work on server defined attribute sets (categories and attributes) as a new level of webDAV support. --Dylan
