Without the excellent test case from Heidi Vanparys, it might have been quite tricky to track down. You have to create a new document from an existing element in some other document, where that element has an xml:base attribute containing a relative URI, and you have to make the base URI of the *document* node the same as the computed base URI of the element in the original document. The last bit is “the obvious thing to do” but it has the misfortune of being the wrong thing to do.
