Referencing an undefined element is not itself an error in a schema document. XSV does not know whether or not you might have another schema document which _does_ define <begin>, with which you plan to combine this one at evalutation time. To check a (set of) schema document(s) for completeness, download XSV so you can run it on the command line, and use the '-i' switch. ht -- Henry S.
