I agree. Doing things for SPY alone is questionable, especially if the results are likely to impact schemas passed outside of the Spy environment. That said, the schema spec gives you a lot of lattitude in finding schemas, in part so that you can play games at development time if you need to. I think the place to draw the line is where you would be creating schemas that would look unusual or hard-to-handle for others.
