Sigh, XSV's xpath implementation is _very_ modest, and doesn't handle
namespaces at all.  The good news is that means it compares EII local
names to what's in the pattern, so try removing the rss: from your
patterns.

Sorry, anyone wishing to contribute a full XPath implementation in
Python to the XSV open source is welcome to do so!!!
