The definition of schema-validity assessment in the PWD makes clear it is not an recipe for an implementation, it is a formal definition of what an implementation must do. We certainly tried to make it possible for an incremental validator to discard as it goes, and at any time only have a subset of outcome information available. If you see some aspect of the current PWDs which precludes this, please let us know. ht -- Henry S.
