The XML DSIG specification allows for the inclusion of a SignatureProperties element to encapsulate metadata for a signed object. This concept has not been carried over into the XML Encryption specification, although it appears to have similar utility for encryption (date of encryption, URI of original document, log file entry id, etc.) Is there a reason an 'EncryptionProperties' element was never defined for encryption? Could this be added to allow metadata to be associated with an encrypted document? Dan Lanz Zolera Systems, Inc.
