Dear Receiver, I report two small editorial problems with the XML spec. #1) First, I was kindly requested to pass the information that <quote> The non-normative XML version http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-xml/REC-xml-20040204.xml (of the page http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-xml/) does not work. The error message is: "Error loading stylesheet: A network error occured loading an XSLT stylesheet:http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-xml/xmlspec.xsl" I hope you can fix this soon. </quote> This message was passed to me in Finnish via email, from Mr. Kim Hokkanen (khokkanen@kapsi.fi) -- apparently he didn't find the editorial contact details quick enough. When I tried to open the page myself (http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-xml/REC-xml-20040204.xml, from a laptop running XP Pro, SP2 and IE 6), I get the following error message: " The XML page cannot be displayed Cannot view XML input using XSL style sheet. Please correct the error and then click the Refresh button, or try again later. The download of the specified resource has failed. " Without investigating this, I'd say that the problem is simply due to the agent's limitations in manipulating XSLT. But, as said, I was requested to pass you the message. #2) Second, (when trying out the above, and) looking at the source (http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-xml/REC-xml-20040204.xml, line 38), I happened to notice, however, that the document includes XML Spy's proprietary processing instructions, which might not respect the policy of names introduced in the very document... [using the xml prefix in names; see the product 17 in subsection 2.6 of the spec]). But of course, the document is non-normative.
