Shouldn't it be a validity error for a standalone document to have an attribute which refers to an externally defined NOTATION? Similarly, to externally defined ENTITY(IES)? 4.7 says the processor must provide notations to the app, just as 4.6.6 summarizes (from where?) that it must provide system/public IDs for entities (and their notations). 2.9 says the intent of standalone is to say that the external markup doesn't affect the data provided to the app. That'd cover information used to make sense of attributes of type NOTATION, ENTITY, and ENTITIES. Or so it seems to me. - Dave
