I'm merely speculating that getting clients properly written to avoid deadlock in this case is tricky: it's not surprising that industrial strength implementations do this properly, especially at the HTTP Layer, but in the case of SOAP, that has to go all the way up to a properly threaded client application. I'm not sure we want to put that burden on the many SOAP clients that will be quite simple. ------------------------------------------------------------------ Noah Mendelsohn Voice: 1-617-693-4036 IBM Corporation Fax: 1-617-693-8676 One Rogers Street Cambridge, MA 02142 ------------------------------------------------------------------ "Eugene Kuznetsov" <eugene@datapower.com> 04/21/2002 03:02 PM To: "Hutchison, Nigel" <Nigel.Hutchison@softwareag.com>, <noah_mendelsohn@us.ibm.com> cc: <xml-dist-app@w3.org> Subject: RE: Completing the tables SRR MEP description. I too am unsure of why large POST & large response would be considered harmful, unusual or strange. \\ Eugene Kuznetsov \\ eugene@datapower.com \\ DataPower Technology, Inc. > -----Original Message----- > From: xml-dist-app-request@w3.org [mailto:xml-dist-app-request@w3.org]On > Behalf Of Hutchison, Nigel > Sent: Tuesday, April 16, 2002 7:58 AM > To: 'noah_mendelsohn@us.ibm.com' > Cc: 'xml-dist-app@w3.org' > Subject: RE: Completing the tables SRR MEP description. > > > I can't say how rare having a large POST overlapping with a large response > is or how buggy stacks are - but the HTTP interface to Tamino > exploits this > and Internet Explorer supports this without problems.
