In order to test features of the SOAP Version 1.2 specification to meet the entrance criteria to the Proposed Recommendation status, I have generated a list of testable assertions[1] found in the current Working Draft[2]. The idea is that each of these assertions can be tested to prove that each feature of the specification has been implemented. I haven't thought through the proof of interoperability yet, but those tests could probably be used for this too. One of the next steps is to compare this set of assertions against the existing tests designed by the SOAPBuilders community, see what they cover and what can be reused. I have written an outline of the next steps[4] and did a high level analysis of the SOAPBuilders tests a few days ago at [3], but I will need to have a closer look at that. This is a pretty rough draft, but comments (on both the document and the process) are welcome on xml-dist-app[5].
