ANNOUNCEMENT TO: <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> soap@discuss.develop.com <mailto:soap@discuss.develop.com> xml-dist-app@w3.org <mailto:xml-dist-app@w3.org> soapbuilders@yahoogroups.com <mailto:soapbuilders@yahoogroups.com> wsdl@yahoogroups.com <mailto:wsdl@yahoogroups.com> Dear SOAP Developers, We are all excited about the great work that is being done to foster SOAP interoperability. To further help our community achieve this goal, Microsoft and IBM will host two events where developers can meet both in person and on the network, to discuss and resolve interoperability problems. Even if you can't attend the events, you are welcome to participate via the network. In order to achieve this important goal, the SOAP community is defining a scenario to implement full-featured applications building on the SOAP 1.1 and W3C XML specifications. We view it as an important goal to use these specifications as standards -- that is, to achieve interoperability by objectively measuring implementation behavior against the publicly-available specifications, correcting defects in implementation and thereby reaching confidence that any two implementations conforming to the specification will interoperate within the scope of the specification. The first event will be hosted by IBM and Microsoft in Raleigh, North Carolina on April 19th and 20th. (Details of the actual room location will be posted when we know how many people plan on participating.) The second event, hosted by Microsoft and IBM, is from May 8th - May 10th, during Net <http://www.key3media.com/interop/lasvegas2001/> World + Interop, and will be at the Las Vegas Convention Center, Room N108. All details of these events will be available at: http://131.107.72.13/event.htm <http://131.107.72.13/event.htm> If you would like to join the direct mailing list for these events, kindly send email with your contact information to either of the folks below. No information provided will be made public or shared for any other purpose without your express permission. All information sent by direct mail will be posted on the web site as well. Other companies wishing to participate in sponsorship are welcome to join us! This is an open process.
