Hi again, One of the programmers here got a printout of the revised spec off the LoC site, and had a few questions. (We were going to have a go at XER - partly for the fun of it - but wanted to use the 'official' ASN.1 as it impacts the XER encoding.) I mentioned Dedup before, but here is a longer list of issues. Thanks for any feedback. Alan ======================================================================== Notes on the ASN.1 in the new Z39.50 1) The Dedup and PQESCorrection Options start with a uppercase letter. This is illegal in ASN.1 2) They appear to have dropped the ASN.1 of DIAG-1. Was this intended? 3) They appear to have dropped the ASN.1 of resource report format 1. Was this intended? 3) The ASN.1 of resource report format 2 mentions resource report format 1 but resource report format 1 does not appear to be included. 4) APDU defines duplicationDetectionRequest as duplicationDetectionRequest [49] IMPLICIT ExtendedServiceRequest ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ 5) eSpec-1 is missing. Was this intended? 6) In eSpec-2 the field VarientRequest of ElementRequest starts with an uppercase 'V' TagType and TagValue fields also start with uppercase letters. -- Alan Kent (mailto:ajk@mds.rmit.edu.au, http://www.mds.rmit.edu.au/~ajk/) Project: TeraText Technical Director, InQuirion Pty Ltd (www.inquirion.com) Postal: Multimedia Database Systems, RMIT, GPO Box 2476V, Melbourne 3001.
