> Explain Lite uses an XML format to describe some administrative details, This is what I don't get. When there's GRS and all the rest already in the Z spec, why add yet another parser requirement and put Explain Lite in XML? Explain isn't that hard. Our system automatically generates the IR-Explain-1 database without any manual configuration at all. (http://cheshire.berkeley.edu/) Sebastian's servers have it, as does Ashley's COPAC target and the Bell Labs target... It just shifts the coding requirement from the server to the client. Current Explain is useful because you can do searches on it. Explain Lite, as I understand it, is just a single record that then needs to be interpreted by the client. So you -need- to include all the XML parsing in a system that otherwise doesn't require it. At the very least it should be in GRS1, but to take one aspect of Explain - can you request Explain Lite in different languages? If we're going to drop functionality out of Z there's a thousand better places than Explain which -helps- interoperability. Rob -- ,'/:.
