To learn the basics of XSLFO, I suggest the 170 page free download preview
of our XSLFO book (we think this is the first XSLFO book published to the
final Recommendation):

   Practical Formatting Using XSLFO
   (Extensible Stylesheet Language Formatting Objects)
   First Edition - 2001-12-05 - ISBN 1-894049-07-1
Copyright (c) 2001 Crane Softwrights Ltd.
/ 341 Pages / Subscription price includes free updates,
/ / soft-copy of all included examples, and an
/ / accessible rendition and 10 PDF renditions.
   / / Free 179-page download preview excerpt.

Follow the top "Book Sales" link on our home page noted below. Note the
perpetual no-charge updates of each new edition I create as I respond to
feedback from customers (thanks to those who have already supplied input
for the next edition!).

Good luck with this new technology ... I find it fun! Plus, the electronic
renditions of both of my books and the paper rendition of the XSLT/XPath
book were all produced using XSLFO (the paper rendition by Prentice-Hall
is, we think, the very first mass-produced published book whose entire
content was produced using XSLFO ... we just handed PDF masters created
using RenderX to the publisher).
