Hello, Section 4.2.6 states that attribute nodes (and namespace nodes) are not allowed as inclusion targets. As far as I could trace back, this has been decided in the early stages of XInclude between the versions from 3.2000 and 7.2000. Is there still a reason why to exclude attribute nodes, and not to handle them in the same way as e.g. when constructing element nodes and attribute nodes in XQuery or XSLT, where attribute nodes resulting from a subexpression are added to the surrounding element? I think, it would be useful to allow attribute nodes as inclusion targets for information integration and Semantic Web applications (e.g. to express views).
