http://www.w3.org/Bugs/Public/show_bug.cgi?id=3046 Summary: RQ-23 First class objects (first-class-obj) Product: XML Schema Version: 1.1 only Platform: Other OS/Version: All Status: NEW Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: SCDS: XML Schema Component Designators AssignedTo: holstege@mathling.com ReportedBy: cmsmcq@w3.org QAContact: www-xml-schema-comments@w3.org This issue was originally reported against XML Schema 1.0 by Dan Connolly. Define an algorithm for generating a URI for any construct in a schema (or, possibly, in a schema document), thus making schema constructs first-class objects in the Web. Minimally the algorithm should cover element( type)s, attributes, simple types, complex types, and notations. Optionally it may also cover other constructs such as named groups and items in enumerations of legal values. See also "URIs for terms: motivation [was Requirement Document]", Dan Connolly (Fri, Feb 08 2002) http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/www-webont-wg/2002Feb/0028.html See also http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/www-xml-schema-comments/2002AprJun/0025.html This item is not a requirement for the XML Schema spec itself (or so decided the WG on 2004-04-23, see http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Member/w3c-xml-schema-ig/2004Apr/0208.html). It remains a requirement for the work of the Working Group, but it will be met by the Schema Component Designators draft, not by XML Schema 1.1.
