http://www.w3.org/Bugs/Public/show_bug.cgi?id=2505 Summary: RQ-145 Add a "value" PSVI property Product: XML Schema Version: 1.1 only Platform: All URL: http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Member/w3c-xml-schema- ig/2003Oct/0106.html OS/Version: All Status: NEW Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: Structures: XSD Part 1 AssignedTo: ht@w3.org ReportedBy: sandygao@ca.ibm.com QAContact: www-xml-schema-comments@w3.org Add a [value] property to the PSVI for attributes and for elements validated with simple content. This candidate requirement is facilitated by RQ-144, as we make clear that the [value] property need be computed only if needed. With a [value] property, we can also suggest to Query that they augment the famously vague Data Model stipulation that: "In the general case, dm:typed-value constructs a sequence of atomic values. These values are derived from the string-value of the element and its type, in such a way as to be consistent with validation." Instead, or in addition one could put into their PSVI-to-DM mapping: "string-value (unchanged) The [schema normalized value] PSVI property if that exists, or the [normalized value] property. typed-value (new) The [value] PSVI property (reference to new PSVI property) See mail: from Noah Mendelsohn (see the URL field above)
