+1.  I agree.

I think some of us had suspicions from day 1.  As we're quite quick to 
note with respect to URIs, giving the same thing two names tends to have 
bad architectural consequences.  That's what we did with datatypes when we 
put them in two namespaces in parallel.  Let's deprecate.
