XQuery: Retrieve only in first release

At XML DevCon 2001 in NYC, Paul Cotton asked for comments on whether to work
for a reteive only or a full function version of XQuery.
Please, get a RETRIEVE version of XQUERY out as soon as possible.
I'm trying to put together an application that will replace a relational
database.  The end-users are currently doing retrieve only SQL.  Being able
to offer them a new tool for going against the XML format would really help
get the project accepted!
