(They sort of got lost in the great namespace debate). Lauren The DOM WG has the following comments on the query requirements document, found at http://www.w3.org/TR/xmlquery-req 3.4.12 Identity Preservation A definition or example would be helpful here. One question is whether a query returns a view into the data (the relationship to the DOM section seems to imply that this is the case), or a copy of the data. It may be the case that some operations may not be able to preserve identity, such as structural transformations. 3.4.17 Environment Information What information must be supplied? What happens if a platform doesn't support it all (e.g., user id)? 4 Relationship to Other Activities and 5 References Please refer to the latest version (and a public version) of the DOM level 2 specification, found at www.w3.org/TR/DOM-Level-2, rather than member-only obsoleted versions. This also applies to the traversal module, found at www.w3.org/TR/DOM-Level-2/traversal.html General It isn't stated specifically whether data that is returned as XML must be returned as well-formed XML.
