Here are a few minor comments for your XLink Candidate Recommendation [1]. After clause 1 par. 3, "these characteristics:", the characteristics seem to be missing. In 2.3 par. 2, "the the" -> "then the" In the illustrations extended-ool.gif, extended-inl.gif, extended-arcs.gif, and simple.gif (in clauses 5.1, 5.1.3, and 5.2), it might help if "loc" and "rsrc" were spelled out. Also, the GIFs are black on transparent which in rare cases can be invisible. Black on a white background would match the W3C style sheet and still be legible for people who have a user style sheet set to light text on a dark background. In the example in 5.1, unless they are acronyms understood internationally, I would spell out "teaching assistants", and spell out "Grade Point Average" near the first time GPA is used. In 5.1.5, in the paragraph between the example tables, "that serve as starting resource" -> "that serve as starting resources" or, "that serve as a starting resource" In 5.4 par. 3, "crosshatch (#) and percent sign (%) characters." -> "number sign (#) and percent sign (%)." (See http://charts.unicode.org/PDF/U0000.pdf. Thanks to Martin Duerst for pointing this out in XML Base.) In A.1., the RFC 2396 URI could be IETF's at http://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc2396.txt [1] http://www.w3.org/TR/2000/CR-xlink-20000703/ Best wishes for your project, -- Susan Lesch, W3C mailto:lesch@w3.org
