When I came to implement the change you requested to the fourth point in Appendix B: 5. The second sentence of the fourth reporting requirement under "Appendix B" appears to be superfluous [...] There is no implication or other indirect language here; the recommendation clearly states that it is the normalized values that are passed to the application. I realised what the original intention must have been. The language is indirect in that this is the only place in the XML spec where it is specified that attribute values are reported *at all*. That is, the fact that they must be normalized before returning them implies that they must be returned. I will remove the sentence anyway because I think it is more likely to confuse than clarify. -- Richard
