Attached please find a review of the document "XML 
Information Set W3C Working Draft 20-December-1999"
(http://www.w3.org/TR/1999/WD-xml-infoset-19991220),
prepared by the W3C XML Schema Working Group and
approved at its meeting of 28 January 2000.

Summary: The XML Schema WG believes that:

The XML Schema WG believes that:

  * The Infoset spec should make clearer that it provides a definition
    of one specific body of information, not an exhaustive or unified
    inventory of the various kinds information which specialized XML
    processors (e.g. schema-aware processors) may provide to
    downstream applications.

  * The treatment of namespace declarations as distinct from
    attributes is clearly a matter of controversy; the divergence of
    opinions on this question within and among working groups should
    be resolved by the XML Plenary and/or Coordination Group.

  * A peripheral property named [parent] should be defined for
    elements; its value should be a reference to the element's parent
    element. A similar peripheral property should be defined for
    attributes, the value of which is a reference to the element
    within whose [attributes] property the attribute is referenced.

  * The property [namespace URI] defined for namespace declarations
    should be a core property.

  * The definition of the property [namespace URI] should be aligned
    with that used in the Namespace Recommendation.
