4th VLDB Workshop on Technologies for E-Services (TES'03)

  http://www.cse.unsw.edu.au/~vldbtes03

  September 8, 2003
  Humboldt-University zu Berlin, Germany

  In Conjunction with:
29th International Conference on Very Large Data Bases (VLDB 2003)

OBJECTIVES

VLDB-TES'2003 is the fourth workshop in a successful series of annual
workshops on technologies for E-Services (also called Web Services),
which have been held in conjunction with the International Conference
on Very Large Data Bases. The objective of VLDB-TES'03 is to bring
together researchers, practitioners, and users to exchange new
ideas, developments and experiences on issues related to E-Services.

E-Services are emerging as promising technology for the effective
automation of application integration across networks and
organisations. They build upon XML, as vehicle for exchanging
messages across applications, and upon the three major standards
WSDL, UDDI, and SOAP, which provide the building blocks for service
description, discovery, and interaction. These basic technological
infrastructures have clearly influenced positively the development of
integrated systems, and now E-services are evolving toward being able
to solve other critical integration issues including security,
transactions, collaborative processes management, semantic aspects,
and seamless integration with existing middleware infrastructures.

TOPICS OF INTEREST

We invite researchers, industry practitioners, and users who are
exploring foundations, developing systems and applications, and using
E-Service systems to share their ideas, results, and experiences. We
invite submissions related (but not limited to) to one or more of the
following topics:

- Composition of e-services
- Description, organization, and discovery of e-services
- E-Service ontologies, meta-data, and semantic issues
- Personalization of e-services
- Security support for e-services
- Agent support for e-services
- Workflow support for e-services
- XML and e-services
- Data management issues in e-service environments
- E-service business intelligence, analysis and optimization
- Transaction support in e-service environments
- Conversation support in e-service environments
- Quality of service in e-service environments
- Monitoring and management of e-services
- E-service agreements and legal contracts
- Negotiation in e-service environments
- Formation and management of e-service communities
- E-services and mobile environments
- Standards for e-services
- Formal Models and Languages for Service Description
- Performance and scalability aspects
- Legacy system integration
- E-service applications and case studies
