Submission deadline: 31 May 2003 -------------------------------- Call for Papers 4th VLDB Workshop on Technologies for E-Services (TES'03) http://www.cse.unsw.edu.au/~vldbtes03 September 8, 2003 Humboldt-University zu Berlin, Germany In Conjunction with: 29th International Conference on Very Large Data Bases (VLDB 2003) OBJECTIVES VLDB-TES'2003 is the fourth workshop in a successful series of annual workshops on technologies for E-Services (also called Web Services), which have been held in conjunction with the International Conference on Very Large Data Bases. The objective of VLDB-TES'03 is to bring together researchers, practitioners, and users to exchange new ideas, developments and experiences on issues related to E-Services. E-Services are emerging as promising technology for the effective automation of application integration across networks and organisations. They build upon XML, as vehicle for exchanging messages across applications, and upon the three major standards WSDL, UDDI, and SOAP, which provide the building blocks for service description, discovery, and interaction. These basic technological infrastructures have clearly influenced positively the development of integrated systems, and now E-services are evolving toward being able to solve other critical integration issues including security, transactions, collaborative processes management, semantic aspects, and seamless integration with existing middleware infrastructures. TOPICS OF INTEREST We invite researchers, industry practitioners, and users who are exploring foundations, developing systems and applications, and using E-Service systems to share their ideas, results, and experiences. We invite submissions related (but not limited to) to one or more of the following topics: - Composition of e-services - Description, organization, and discovery of e-services - E-Service ontologies, meta-data, and semantic issues - Personalization of e-services - Security support for e-services - Agent support for e-services - Workflow support for e-services - XML and e-services - Data management issues in e-service environments - E-service business intelligence, analysis and optimization - Transaction support in e-service environments - Conversation support in e-service environments - Quality of service in e-service environments - Monitoring and management of e-services - E-service agreements and legal contracts - Negotiation in e-service environments - Formation and management of e-service communities - E-services and mobile environments - Standards for e-services - Formal Models and Languages for Service Description - Performance and scalability aspects - Legacy system integration - E-service applications and case studies IMPORTANT DATES Papers due May 31, 2003 Notification of acceptance June 26, 2003 Final papers due July 3, 2003 Conference date September 8, 2003 LOCATION Humboldt-University zu Berlin in conjunction with 29th International Conference on Very Large Data Bases (VLDB 2003). SUBMISSION GUIDELINES AND PROCEEDINGS Papers should be submitted via e-mail to vldbtes03@cse.unsw.edu.au. Each paper will be reviewed by three program committee members. Accepted papers will appear in printed proceedings that will be made available prior to the workshop. Papers should not exceed 5000 words (approximately 12 pages) in length and must be submitted in Postscript or PDF. For all issues regarding paper submission, please contact Boualem Benatallah at boualem@cse.unsw.edu.au. The title page should include: - paper title - names, e-mails, and affiliations of authors - name, mailing address, e-mail address and phone number of contact author - abstract with no more than 200 words Proceedings will be published in the Springer Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS) series.
