I guess this could be interesting to some folks here ... Call for Papers --------------- **************************************************************** First International Workshop on Web Services -- Research, Standardization, and Deployment (WS-RSD´02) (http://www.jeckle.de/ws-rsd/) In conjunction with Net.ObjectDays-2002 (see also http://net.objectdays.org/) Erfurt, Germany, October 7/10, 2002 **************************************************************** General Scope ---------------------------------------------------------------- Web Services promise to ease various of nowadays infrastructure challenges. Especially they are publicized to mark a step into a new era of integration. Integration of data, processes, and also whole enterprises on the basis of a set of loosely related lightweight approaches which transparently hide any technical implementation details except the Web serving as the basic transport and deployment mechanism. Interoperability will surely prove itself as the critical success factor of the web service proliferation promised by some analysts. In order to accomplish these interoperability various standardization bodies such as the W3C, UN or OASIS founded activities working on specifications to work on building blocks of a web service architecture which is still left up to define. Nevertheless, a significant number of vendors offer first commercial solutions which have been implemented by early adopters creating some real world services. Topics ---------------------------------------------------------------- Areas of interest of WS-RSD'02 include but are not limited to: Research -Web Services vs. Classical Integration Architectures -Semantic Description Methods -Ubiquitous Services -Location-dependent Information Services -Otologies for Web Services -Grid Computing Standardization -Web Services and the Semantic Web -Comparison of Competing Standards -Extensions to Existing Standards -Open Source and Web Services -Web Service Protocols -Missing Standards Deployment -Web Services Interoperability -Electronic Commerce -Billing Models for Web Services -Web Services and Portals -Secure Web Services and Privacy Issues -Real-world Web-Service deployments Important Dates ---------------------------------------------------------------- Paper Submissions: 2002-06-30 Notification of Acceptance: 2002-07-31 Camera Ready Submission: 2002-08-31 Publication of Workshop Program: 2002-09-15 Workshop: One or two days in parallel with NOD 2002 Format of the Workshop ---------------------------------------------------------------- This one-day workshop aims at promoting the exchange of research results and ideas, and discussion on the use, benefits and limitations of Web Services. A special emphasis will be devoted towards exchanging experiences on the challenging technical issues, solutions and real-world applications. A panel and an invited talk(s) by the experts in the area are also considered. The official language of the workshop is English. The workshop presentations will be grouped into sessions to foster more focused discussions. The workshop schedule will provide time for specific discussions after the presentations as well as for the exchange of ideas across the sessions. There will be both regular and short presentations. The regular presentations will report on the results of the completed research and the short presentations will allow for presenting work-in-progress.
