On yesterdays call it was stated that this group is responsible for "coordinating" the "use cases" (usual caveat) across the WS activity. That said, we should add a goal to that effect. How about the following: "... to coordinate the presentation of a consistent set of use cases across the WS activity." On the naming question, personally I have no problem with DaveO's current names. IMHO, the most important thing here is consistency. It appears that "usage scenarios" has been widely used to denote the "lower level" cases so we should stick with that. If there is contention on using the word "application" for the "higher level" descriptions, then how about adopting the term "Sample web services". -------------------------------------------------------- Darran Rolls http://www.waveset.com Waveset Technologies Inc drolls@waveset.com -------------------------------------------------------- -----Original Message----- From: Dilber, Ayse, ALASO [mailto:adilber@att.com] Sent: Friday, May 31, 2002 8:30 AM To: Dave Hollander; www-ws-arch@w3.org Subject: RE: [USTF] Agenda for May 30, 2002 After pondering over yesterday's discussion regarding our goals, strategy and objectives for the USTF, I'd like to suggest the following: Goal: define usage scenarios (we can debate over the terminology) to verify set of requirements for a standard reference architecture for Web Services developed by the WS Arch. WG. Strategy: - define stake holders - identify applications (i.e., reliable messaging, security, EAI, etc.) to be used in usage scenarios - leverage Desc. WG's protocol usage scenarios - influence WS-I defined usage scenarios to enhance WS interoperability Objectives: - drive the development of WS usage scenarios that includes protocols/applications/interoperability - ensure that the usage scenarios integrate architectural requirements Any thoughts?
