RE: [RTF] Glossary entry ""metric of Architectural component"

Mark,

From glossary [2] I find:

Architecture
The software architecture of a program or computing system is the structure
or structures of the system, which comprise software components, the
externally visible properties of those components, and the relationships
among them."

=>
Architecture component = (software) component of the (software)
architecture.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
----------
Just to stretch a little:
Does this defn of Architecture imply no hardware components in the
(software) architecture? There could be hardware encryptor/decryptors that
are the components used
with web service implementations - what about them? In other words, should
we not explicitly state "hardware or software components" or avoid reference
to software in the defn.?

Cheers,

Suresh, can I ask for a definition of "architectural component" first
please?

It sounds like you're talking about software components, like
clients, intermediaries, etc.., since you're planning on measuring
them. The glossary currently defines some terms that themselves use
the term "software component" to refer to what I believe you're
intending to refer to here.

Thanks.
