Hi Chris (and all). * Christopher B Ferris <chrisfer@us.ibm.com> [2002-11-21 17:19-0500] > http://dev.w3.org/cvsweb/~checkout~/2002/ws/arch/wsa/wd-wsa-ext.html > > This is being posted merely to allow members to get an initial glimpse at > what this *might* look like were we to take this idea further... I have been reading the draft in order to try and see what should be added, kept, removed, and what the relationship is with the SOAP Version 1.2 Part 1: Messaging Framework[1]. I think that this document should stay fairly general: we should try and leave out what is SOAP 1.2 specific, and keep the high-level concepts. Concretely, I would put in the introduction some text saying that Web Services Feature are the generalization of SOAP features, as defined by the SOAP 1.2 specification, and describes their role in the Web services architecture. The details of section 2.2 SOAP Modules should probably be referred to by pointing to section 3.2 of SOAP 1.2 Part 1[2]. Section 3 Web Services Protocol Binding Framework should be generalized to the transfer of data with different protocols. I am wondering about the concept of binding for raw XML (or for that matter an XML-based protocol other than SOAP 1.2) transferred via HTTP... As a general comment, I think that such concepts (and such a document) will fit well in the Web services architecture, and, to refer to the previous discussion of what to do with section 3[3] and 4[4] of SOAP 1.2 Part 1, I am leaning towards thinking that this document will be a good complement and follow-up to them.
