Hello, my name is Peter F. Patel-Schneider and I will be representing Lucent Technologies in this working group. (This representation has already been authorized by our AC rep.) I have been active in the Description Logics community for almost twenty years now. I have been involved in the design and implementation of several representation systems and formalisms, including KRYPTON, KANDOR, CLASSIC, NeoClassic, DLP, and DAML+OIL. I expect to contribute my experience in designing and analyzing representation formalisms related to ontology languages and my experience in building systems that implement such formalisms. I expect to get out of the group a coherent design for a web ontology formalism that will be used as a specification for modifying existing ontology reasoners and systems and for building new reasoners and systems. Lucent Technologies expects to be able to use such reasoners and systems in various areas, including efforts to build services that combine telephony and data communications. I agree to participate per the charter http://www.w3.org/2001/sw/WebOnt/charter last modified 2001/08/14 I do not have personal knowledge of any IPR claims held by Lucent Technologies regarding Web Ontologies, excepting copyright on various documents that I have authored.
