New: XML-Query Algebra

W3C's XML Query Working Group has just published the new, first draft of 
the XML Query Data Model, available from the W3C web site at: 
http://www.w3.org/TR/query-algebra/

The algebra, building on traditions in the database community, 
is powerful enough to capture the semantics of many XML query 
languages, and includes analogues of most of the laws of relational 
algebra.
