Dear all, The popular W3C link checker tool just got an update. Use it online http://validator.w3.org/checklink .... or download it: it is Free and Open Source http://search.cpan.org/dist/W3C-LinkChecker/ This release of version 4.5 of the link checker is mostly a bugfix release. Changes include: * Bug Fix: when trying to access some broken resources the link checker would sometimes time out and not finishing its job. A change in timeout settings should fix that issue * Bug Fix: updated dependencies for easier, more reliable installation on all systems. The link checker would sometimes report dubious results during installation (albeit successful) and the changes * Bug Fix: the “quiet” option in command-line use was made quieter * Misc.: the distributed source now no longer includes W3C-trademarked material, making it easier to distribute in strict open source distributions. For a full changelog, see: http://cpansearch.perl.org/src/SCOP/W3C-LinkChecker-4.5/ChangeLog **** Contribute ! **** The link checker is an open source project, and everyone is welcome to participate to its development. Visit the link checker's documentation page for information on installing, patching, and reporting issues: http://validator.w3.org/docs/checklink.html **** Thank You **** Many thanks to everyone involved in making this new release. Recent work on the link checker was made possible thanks to great bug reports and suggestions. Credit where credit is due: Ville Skyttä has been the main architect of this release, finding and resolving issues in the same breath, and showing extraordinary patience while we tried to entangle legalese issues with licensing and distribution. Kudos. Thank you, -- olivier
