A new stable version of the W3C Markup Validation Service (a.k.a HTML
validator), the popular free service and tool checking the validity of
Web documents, was released today.

* Changes *

This release of version 0.7.0 of the validator is the result of several
months of development, bug fixing, alpha and beta testing by a group
of volunteer developers and a user community hosted by W3C.
Changes include:
 - Improvements in usability and user interface,
 - New and improved mechanisms for feedback and user support,
 - Support for installation on Windows systems,
 - A cleaner architecture, moving the results output to a template system,
 - Better support for validation of both W3C and non-W3C document types,
 - ... and a number of bug fixes.
See http://validator.w3.org/whatsnew.html#t2005-08-08 for more details.

* Using and Installing the Markup Validator *

The Markup Validator is available as a free service hosted by W3C at:
http://validator.w3.org/

It is also an Open Source/Free Software, available for download and
installation on a variety of systems and platforms, see:
http://validator.w3.org/source/ and http://validator.w3.org/docs/install.html

* Credits, Feedback and Participation *

There are many ways that every user of the validator can help in its
maintenance and development: sending feedback and bug reports,
participating on the user's mailing-list, dowloading the code and
submitting patches, and much more... For more instructions, visit:

This release was made possible through the contributions of many,
including the volunteer participants in W3C QA development effort
(Terje Bless, David Dorward, Björn Höhrmann, Ville Skyttä, with help
from many others), documentation contribution from David Tibbe, as well as
constant feedback, bug reports and user support from the participants of
the www-validator mailing-list.

... many thanks to all of you.
