I am surprised to see that the xml:lang="..." setting is not supported by the 
validator for XHTML 1.1 pages. Example :

<span class="lastupdate" xml:lang="en">Posted on 2005-12-20 at 20:18</span>

... this causes a validation error.

What am I doing wrong?
