text-overflow property and CSS3 standards

Hello

The validation fails for the following code:

#whatever
{
text-overflow: ellipsis;
}

The text-overflow property belongs to CSS3, so I set the validator's settings according to it, and check.
I get the 'Parse Error [empty string]' error message (attached image).

I have to use that property but the page also has to be valid to the standards.
