It seems that the validator has not been updated since that fix. The Validator is actually right, background: #5a7a91 url("./swirl.gif") no-repeat 5px center; background: url("./theme.png") no-repeat center 4px; Both mix lengths and keywords for background-position which is not allowed in CSS 2.0, http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-CSS2/colors.html#propdef-background-position For e.g. <http://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/validator?text=a{background-position:center%201px}> you would get the same result.
