BZZZZT!  Telnet is generally inaccessible from compuserve, aol, and 
prodigy, last I looked.   Many more people are comfortable with web URLs 
than telnet.

I think there's actually a minute number of people who can xterminal into 
a remote machine and have it open a window on theirs.
