FYI http://www.knowledge-exchange.info/Default.aspx?ID=62&M=News&PID=2379&NewsID=114 Eight national organisations, brought together by Knowledge Exchange present three reports investigating the establishment of a persistent identifier infrastructure connecting various partners and systems. As internet resources are being moved, they can no longer be traced. Having persistent links to these resources is of great importance for the citation, retrieval and preservation of cultural and scientific resources. A persistent identifier infrastructure is needed to support these persistent links to materials.
