DRAFT agenda for IAB/TAG coordination call Thursday 6/7

The W3C TAG will have a joint meeting/call with (some members of) the Internet Architecture Board (IAB) on Tuesday 7 June 2011 10:30-noon.

Based on the TAG's original proposed agenda with feedback from Jon Peterson, here is a draft agenda for the call.

( Originally I had imagined we could have more clearly identified pre-reading, e.g., the TAG's Web Architecture document and list of findings, but to be realistic I left those out as required reading.)

== 30 min Part 1
READING  Introductory material:
  - IAB charter   http://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc2850
  - TAG charter  http://www.w3.org/2001/07/19-tag

Please everyone read or at least skim.

* Introductions: who, what where, round table people on the call say a few things, but 2 minutes each max

== 40 min Part 2, specific topics and possible results of collaboration

Discussion of specific examples, to drive our consideration of the liaison structure and the general coordination model. (See questions for Part 3 below)
READING: (No required reading for this session available in time)

6 minutes each max: what each group has done, what they want to do, what coordination is already going on, how can IAB/TAG help?
(I thought it better to send out the agenda sooner; if there is some pre-reading or reading on these topics you'd like others to read, please send to the joint lists).

- Versioning: IAB document on extensibility vs. TAG notes on versioning (incomplete)
- Security: TAG work with John Kemp on security, and IAB BCPs on security topics
- Privacy: TAG work on API minimization and IAB approach to privacy architecture, joint work on Do Not Track
- Real time communication in browser
- Registries: Review of HAPPIana and possible TAG work on this
- Identity (OAuath and related work)

== 20 min Part 3, next steps

 Discussion of logistics, TAG and IAB processes and next steps, other areas of coordination.

Focus on relationship between IETF focused effort and IAB, as well as W3C working groups and TAG.
Avenues for collaboration? Leveraging the different membership models? Alignment of scope of work?

1) Do members of both of our organizations have sufficiently open avenues for collaboration? Do the different membership models of our organizations impede collaboration? If so, do we need new collaborative structures to improve our ability to work together?
2) Do we understand properly what the scope is of IETF work versus W3C work? Does that need further codification or specification?
3) Does our current liaison personnel structure hold up to the increasing level of cooperation needed? Do we need formal sub-liaisons to cover the hot-button topics.

Contrast W3C/IETF coordination (which are more tactical issues) vs. TAG/IAB coordination (what are strategic issues that we should focus on).
