Noah Mendelsohn change of affiliation

Today, April 7, I retired from my position with the IBM Corporation.
For the most part, I intend to use the coming months for an extended
break from full time work, but I have agreed to continue as chair of the
TAG. Since my affiliation is changing, this requires a reappointment,
which I anticipate that the Director will announce shortly. Serving on
the TAG and for the past year as its chair has been a great privilege,
and I am very pleased to continue. For those who are interested, a few
more details about my retirement and long term plans are in a blog
posting at [1].

The W3C membership has an understandable interest in knowing the
corporate connections of people in positions such as mine, so I also
want to alert you to the fact that I do still retain a limited
affiliation with IBM, which has been generous enough to grant me the
title of Distinguished Engineer Emeritus. That makes me an honorary
member of their technical community, and it gives me limited access to
some of their facilities. What's most important for W3C members to
understand is that, in spite of this designation, I am no longer an
employee of IBM: I receive no salary from them, and I do not speak for
for them at W3C or anywhere else for that matter. If anyone has
questions about my "Emeritus" relationship with IBM, you can refer them
to the Web page at [2], or of course, you can ask me or Steve Holbrook.

Please note that, as of today, the appropriate email address to use for
W3C-related communication to me is nrm@arcanedomain.com
<mailto:nrm@arcanedomain.com>. In part because my old IBM address is on
W3C Recommendations and other documents, I am trying to arrange for that
to route to me again eventually, but at least in the short run email
sent to me at IBM may be lost. I believe I have arranged to keep copies
of all email sent to me there up until yesterday.

Also, I intend to celebrate my "retirement" by taking the rest of this
week mostly off from TAG-related activities. I'll take a quick look at
email from time to time in case anything urgent comes up, but otherwise
I'll start in again Tuseday of next week with planning for the agenda
for the telcon of 15 April.

Thanks to all of you, and especially to Tim and the other members of the
TAG, for trusting me with this important position. I look forward to
seeing you at upcoming TAG meetings, and at TPAC.

Noah Mendelsohn
